Information Technology

IT & Media Company @ Ottery St Mary, Devon

Our business relies on Broadband and our current location (3 miles from Ottery St Mary Exchange) means that we only get approximately 1.8Mbps connection speed. As a website developer and video production company we have a great need for super fast broadband and would massively benefit from both fast download, and more importantly for us; fast upload. Currently our uploads can take hours (for video files) and 30 minutes or more for web sites.

Faster broadband would mean we could work more efficiently, deliver client projects faster and compete (from a technology point of view) with our urban based competitors. Our home office allows us to be greener, however the lack of fast Internet connectivity is a serious problem that may one day mean we have to re-locate reducing our profitability and decreasing our margins.

I feel we are penalised for working in the country. Already service providers are offering services over 50 times faster to city dwellers, this is only going to increase the ‘digital divide’ making green, home working businesses an unworkable option for many.
